Welcome to the Elementary School at AISG.

We are proud of our school and our students. Our school is a place where students study, learn, play and support each other. We strive to provide a safe and exciting learning environment that promotes students' social, emotional, physical and academic needs.

The Elementary School at AISG follows the IBO Primary Years Programme (PYP). The PYP requires our students to be active participants in their own learning. This is achieved through inquiry-based activities, integrating an American and international curriculum with grade level standards and benchmarks. The IB Student Learner Profile encourages students to become compassionate and lifelong learners who are: inquirers, thinkers, communicators, knowledgeable, risk-takers, principled, caring, open-minded, balanced and reflective. We are preparing our students to become independent and reflective of the world around them.

Based on our learner profile we have created a very successful academic program. Core subjects of Language Arts, Mathematics, Units of Inquiry (Science and Social Studies) are taught by the Home Room teachers, and we have specialist teachers in Art, Guidance, Computer, Library, Music, Physical Education, Mandarin, English as a Second Language (ESL) and Learning Support (LS).

One important aspect of my job is communication between school and home. At the bottom of this page is a copy of our parent handbook. It covers basic rules and procedures and presents a better understanding of the elementary educational program. Parents and students are encouraged to review this handbook at home and refer to it as necessary during the school year. If you have additional questions that the handbook does not address, please contact your child's teacher or me directly.
