The Elementary School uses a quarterly scheme for reporting student progress. Written reports are sent home at the end of each semester. A formal parent-teacher conference is held at the beginning of the second quarter. A student-led conference with parents is held at the end of the third quarter. In addition, progress reports may be sent home at any time of the year when the teacher feels it necessary to communicate formally with parents. The Elementary School uses the following reporting process: Written Reports- Two report cards are issued per year, one at the end of each semester.
- Teachers send home progress reports as needed.
Parent - Teacher Conferences- Parent-teacher conferences are held after the first quarter of the school year.
- Additional conferences are held throughout the year as requested by either the parent or teacher.
Teacher - Student Conferences - The teacher and student meet frequently to discuss the student’s progress and goals.
Student-led Conferences- Student led conferences are held once a year, during the third quarter.
- Conferences are held in the students’ classrooms.
- Students have the opportunity to plan, implement, conduct and evaluate his/her own conference.Student-led conferences are a forum for students to demonstrate more responsibility for their growth as learners and to be active participants in the evaluation process.
- Parents have the opportunity to learn about their child’s progress directly from their son or daughter.
- Students share self-reflections and progress as a learner, use a portfolio to highlight areas of strength and areas for growth and share goals.
- During student led conferences, teachers are present to observe the students as they share their progress with parents.
- Parents have an opportunity to schedule an individual conference for another date if they would like to meet with the teacher.
- More than one conference can run at one time; however, every student and their parents will have their own area for the conference and are encouraged to be respectful of other participants.
