The kindergarten is a developmentally based program that provides for optimal learning through an integrated curriculum. It provides for all areas of physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development. As children enter kindergarten at different stages of growth and development, they also have individual rates of learning. Teachers ensure that learning is purposeful and meaningful to the children. Primary Years ProgrammeThe Elementary School has implemented the Primary Years Programme (PYP) of the International Baccalaureate Organization. The PYP is committed to structured, purposeful inquiry, which engages children in their own learning. Reading/Language ArtsA literature rich environment enables children to have access to a wide variety of reading materials. Through daily songs, poems, stories, and discussions, students learn language and the skills needed for reading and writing. MathAn integrated Math program aims to actively involve students in learning mathematics through experiences that are realistic, fun and connected to their own lives. With the use of a variety of manipulatives, students learn to count, add, subtract, classify, sort, graph and form patterns. After School ActivitiesAfter school activities are not offered to Kindergarten or Grade 1 students in the first semester. There will be opportunities for them to sign up for activities in January SpecialistsThe following specialist classes enrich the Kindergarten program:
