Welcome to our 2009-2010 School Year. Gary MacPhie The Elementary School at AISG follows the IBO Primary Years Programme (PYP). The PYP requires our students to be active participants in their own learning. This is achieved through inquiry based activities, integrating an American and international curriculum with grade level standards and benchmarks. The IB Student Learner Profile encourages students to become compassionate and lifelong learners who are: inquirers, thinkers, communicators, knowledgeable, risk-takers, principled, caring, open-minded, balanced and reflective. We are preparing our students to become independent and reflective of the world around them. Based on our learner profile we have created a very successful academic program. Core subjects of Language Arts, Mathematics, units of inquiry (Science and Social Studies) are taught by the Home Room teachers, and we have specialist teachers in art, guidance, computer, library, music, Physical Education, Mandarin, English as a Second Language (ESL) and Learning Support (LS). One important aspect of my job is communication between school and home. Please read through our Elementary School hand book as it covers basic rules and procedures and presents a better understanding of the elementary educational program. Parents and students are encouraged to review this handbook at home and refer to it as necessary during the school year. If you have additional questions that the handbook does not address, please contact your child's teacher or me directly. We invite you to explore our web site at: www.aisgz.org for more information and photographs of the exciting events that occur in our elementary school. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me – I welcome your comments and feedback. My goal is to make sure all students are safe, happy and learning. We look forward to welcoming you. Gary MacPhieElementary Principal Email: This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it |
