Girl Scouts conducting experiments Girl Scouts conducting experiments The Elementary After School Activity (EASA) program at the American International School Guangzhou offers activities for students in grades K-5. Students are not required to participate in the program but do so because of their interest in the activities and the lack of opportunities within the city of Guangzhou for play and recreation.

EASA has four sessions of activities in a school year which coincide with the quarter system. Activities occur Tuesday through Friday. The activities presented are teacher driven in the type of activity and the choice of session in which the activity is offered. Sessions are either 7 or 8 weeks in nature depending upon the school calendar year. A class runs for 1 hour after school, from 3:15 – 4:15.

Participation in EASA at AISG is a graduated system. In session one, only students in grades 2-5 are allowed to participate. In session two, grade 1 students are admitted in the program. Finally, Kindergarten students begin participating in the session three activities. Kindergarten and Grade 1 students are allowed to participate in 1 day a week. Students in Grades 2-5 are allowed a maximum of 2 activities per week.

Girl Scouts is offered within the EASA program and occurs only in session 2 and session 3. This activity is organized and run by the AISG community.
