We look forward to welcoming you to our school community in the near future. The Admissions Process at AISGPlease note: AISG is registered with the People’s Republic of China as a School for Foreign Children. Students who hold PRC passports are ineligible for admissions. All other foreign passport holders, including those from Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, are eligible to apply. Also, AISG is a day school, and as such does not have any dormitory or boarding facilities for students. Students must reside with one or both parents in a permanent residential situation in Guangzhou. AISG is now accepting applications for the 2010-2011 school year, which begins on Wednesday, August 11, 2010. Applications should be submitted as early as possible as spaces are limited in many grade levels. We will begin reviewing applications in March 2010, and admissions tests for students applying from within Guangzhou will be scheduled in April. Applications for preschool should be submitted by the beginning of May as interviews and assessments are scheduled for mid May. Any applications received after May 31st will be subject to seat availability. If you are applying from overseas or applying for mid-semester enrollment, we do have a rolling admissions process based on seat availability. Please contact the Admissions Office as soon as you know about your possible relocation to Guangzhou to inquire about available seats. All students applying to AISG must undergo a screening test which assesses English proficiency and academic skill level. Students must meet our admissions criteria prior to being offered a seat at our school. Final acceptance and admission to AISG is based on the information in the application, school reports and confidential references, assessment of the screening test, and availability of seats in that particular grade level. Please note that admissions decisions are final. Seats will not be assigned to new students until after May 4, 2010 to allow our current AISG students the first opportunity to re-enroll. AISG reserves the right to make early admissions decisions for strong candidates or candidates with priority status. Students who meet our admissions criteria are placed in a grade level after due consideration of their age, previous grade level, previous national school system, achievement level, and emotional and physicial maturity. The school will make the final decision on the appropriate grade placement of students. The needs of students with learning difficulties should be discussed prior to submitting an application, in order to determine whether the necessary support is available. We reserve the right to exclude students when we believe we cannot meet their educational or behavioral needs. For more information about our admissions process and policies, please refer to our website at www.aisgz.org. There you will find our FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions) and you can also download our complete Welcome Brochure. If you have any questions, or you would like a tour of our school, please feel free to contact the Admissions Office. Thank you again for your interest in AISG.
