P.E Introduction
Students will be given opportunities to appreciate and understand the value of physical activity and its relationship to a healthy, balanced lifestyle. In trying to meet this aim we encourage students to:
  • Participate in a variety of physical activities
  • Develop social skills that demonstrate the importance of teamwork and co-operation
  • Work to their optimal physical level
  • Become aware of movement as a creative and expressive medium
  • Show and share knowledge as well as understanding through self and peer evaluations
  • Experience the enjoyment of physical exercise

Description:
The grade 6 Physical Education program is a carefully planned sequence of learning which focuses on acquisition of basic sport-specific skills, rules and strategies. Activities/topics throughout the year include;
  • Team Sports
  • Individual/Dual Sports
  • Rhythm and Movement
  • Wellness
Grade 6 Physical Education also allows students to begin appraising their personal fitness levels. Social skills such as teamwork, communication, respect, and personal responsibility are strongly integrated in all student work.

The Grade 7 Physical Education program is a carefully planned sequence of learning which focuses on acquisition of basic sport-specific skills, rules and strategies. Activities/topics throughout the year include;

Grade 7 Physical Education students are expected to create their own fitness and skill-specific goals. They will also be expected to apply problem solving techniques in physical activity settings. Social skills such as teamwork, communication, respect and personal responsibility are strongly integrated in all student work.

Grade 8 Physical Education students are expected to create and develop their own fitness and skill specific goals. They will also be expected to collaboratively solve problems by analyzing causes and potential solutions in physical activity settings.
