Participation in the Science course should enable students to develop skills that are relevant and useful to the study and practice of science in everyday situations. They will acquire understanding and knowledge of the concepts, principles and applications of science. Students should develop a curiosity, interest and enjoyment in science and its methods of enquiry. Limitations imposed on science by social, technological, political, ethical and cultural factors are considered as students develop understandings of science in a historical context relevant to today. |

Description: Students follow an integrated science course based on themes that unify the sciences. These themes integrate facts and concepts, which are presented in the context of real places and provide connections that link science to other subjects and to everyday life. The course is structured around four themes: - Life Science
- Physical Science
- Earth Science
- Health and Human Body Science
The course approaches science through a variety of learning modalities, tapping students' diverse talents and abilities. Laboratory exercises, collection of data, graphing and analyzing data, group work and presentations are incorporated as part of the course to reinforce and clarify material discussed in class. Critical thinking is encouraged through the use of scientific method. Additional readings and other media link scientific ideas to everyday applications. |

Description: Students follow an integrated science course based on themes that unify the sciences. These themes integrate facts and concepts and the emphasis is on "big ideas" that link the structures on which the science disciplines are built. The course is structured around four themes - Energy
- Systems and Interactions
- Scale and Structure
- Stability and Change
Laboratory exercises are incorporated as part of the course to reinforce and clarify material discussed in class. Critical thinking is encouraged through the use of the scientific method. Additional readings link scientific ideas to everyday applications. |
