Testing Testing The ITBS (Iowa Test of Basic Skills) are given to each student in Middle School over a week in November. The ITBS is a battery of standardized tests from the United States and students will be tested in reading comprehension, vocabulary, language, and mathematics. Parents will be informed of the dates of these tests, and although students cannot study for these tests, they should be on time, well rested and have a good breakfast on the testing days. The purpose of the ITBS is to identify or confirm individual students' strengths, development and weaknesses so we can better meet the needs of our students. We also look at the results as a whole to evaluate our learning program. Results will be sent home to parents so they have an outside assessment of their child's progress each year. Please remember that these tests may be culturally and linguistically biased for some of our students and are particularly difficult for English language learners. If parents have any questions about their child's results please contact the school counselor.
