Passport to Broadway Musical Program

BroadwayBroadwayThis past summer our students had an exclusive opportunity to work with an award-winning Broadway team from New York as part of the Passport to Broadway Musical Theater Intensive at AISG.

For 10 extraordinary days, students learned and performed a hand-crafted, personalized Broadway Musical filled with some of the biggest and best show tunes from America's finest writers and composers. 


The cast of WICKED The Musical also paid a surprise visit to the Science Park Campus to watch rehearsals and provide valuable feedback before their final performance.


AISG student and teacher present at ISTE 2017 in San Antonio

 

ISTEISTEOver the summer, AISG 10th Grader, Belinda Tang, presented as a keynote speaker in front of 3000 educators as part of the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) 2017 in San Antonio TX. The ISTE Conference seeks to deliver educator-tested strategies and extraordinary resources for transforming learning and teaching. The Conference aims to bring together the brightest minds in ed tech, with the view to create a platform for year-long networking opportunities. Tang also presented a follow up session with AISG MS/HS Tech Coach, and mentor, Dave Navis. In this session,

Tang and Navis showcased the journey of Studio1ne, a group created two years ago by then-8
th grade AISG students. Studio1ne describe themselves as “a group of aspiring teenagers working together to push the limits of cinematography, photography and storytelling, in order to become entrepreneurs of the modern filmmaking industry.”


The concept of the Studio1ne presentation was to illustrate how they have taken their education outside the walls of the classroom, by making a website, forming a business model, and looking for where their talent can be used in the community.

 

PolyU Innovation and Entrepreneurship Global Student Challenge

 

PolyUPolyUDuring the summer, senior students, Ryan Bott, Michelle Zhuang, and former AISG student, Juho Seo, travelled to Hong Kong to participate in the international business plan competition PolyU Innovation & Entrepreneurship Global Student Challenge 2017.  

The three students, known as Team WebEd, competed with 117 other high school teams from all over the world, showcasing their outstanding presentation skills and earning the Gold Award in the Secondary Division. Their prize was a US$4,000 check.
 

Team WebEd presented the business idea of providing middle school education to Chinese students using one of China’s most commonly used mobile applications – WeChat. With their innovative idea, rigorous consideration of details, and a viable, sustainable business model, Team WebEd successfully captivated the judges’ attention and earned their approbation.

AISG was the only international school in China to be invited to participate in this global challenge and win the trophies during the recent four years.
