Terry Fox RunTerry Fox Run On September 18, 2013, Ms. Judith Fox, sister to Canadian athlete Terry Fox, made a visit to AISG as a way to thank the school for over 10 years of participation in the annual Terry Fox Run for cancer research.

In 1980, with one leg having been amputated due to osteosarcoma, Terry Fox embarked on a cross-Canada run to raise money and awareness for cancer research. Although the spread of his cancer eventually forced him to end his quest after 143 days and 5,373 kilometres (3,339 mi), and ultimately cost him his life, his efforts resulted in a lasting, worldwide legacy. The annual Terry Fox Run, first held in 1981, has grown to involve millions of participants in over 60 countries including China and AISG has been at the forefront of promoting his cause in Guangzhou.

AISG would like to express our thanks to Gary and Barbara MacPhie for continuing to rally participation in the the Terry Fox Runs.  They, and their two daughters, Maggie and Jamison, have been Terry Fox supporters for over 20 years; not only in Guangzhou but Canada, Tapei and Qatar as well.  Since 2007, under their guidance,  AISG has raised approximately 130,000Rmb.  The next Terry Fox Run is scheduled for December 7, 2013 and the school will start to provide details for registration and T-shirt sales in November.
