AISG Cares

In August, AISG dedicates the month to celebrating friendship and welcoming both returning and new students to our diverse campus, fostering a sense of belonging. Our students and faculty hail from various nations and cultures, and we believe it’s vital to honor and embrace both our similarities and differences.

This time of year is significant as we greet many newcomers to our community. We encourage students to recognize the importance of making friends and bridging cultural divides. The celebration of ‘AISG Cares’ sets a positive tone for the year, reflecting our mission and vision of a compassionate community that values every voice and promotes global connections.

During the month, our Ersha campus was decorated with colorful signs displaying the ‘AISG Cares’ theme, along with messages and suggestions on how students can be welcoming and inclusive. Different activities took place over the month, such as counselors making and sharing special videos and messages through puppet shows as assemblies. In the classroom, the topic was part of guidance lessons all month long. Principals also shared during assembly how we can show care in our community and linked it to the Elementary theme of the year ‘From Me to We’.

In Secondary, AISG Cares embraced the exciting theme of "Caring in Action"! This month, we celebrated our vibrant community where kindness can spark positive change. Administration hosted a welcome assembly for new and returning students focusing on the topic and students focused on getting to know each other, social contracts, and identity during their weekly advisory lessons.

We also hosted a Caregiver Coffee on Belonging at AISG through DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion). The presentation focused on language justice at AISG and why we think that teaching about identity is important for our students. These topics fall under AISG’s social vision of being a community where every voice is valued and each person can be who they truly are.

At AISG, we believe that teaching these values to our students from a young age helps us build a healthy, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all. By encouraging acts of kindness, we not only create a supportive community but also equip our students with the social skills they need to thrive in a diverse world. Together, we’re not just making a difference; we’re building lasting friendships and memories!
