The start of a new school year is always exciting but can be challenging for new students. That’s why at AISG, August is Caring Month, a time to ensure every student feels a strong sense of belonging. As we welcome both new and returning students, we believe that celebrating friendship and recognizing the importance of making meaningful connections is vital. This not only sets a positive tone for the year but also reflects our mission and vision to nurture a compassionate and globally connected community.

During the month, our screens across both of our campuses display messages as helpful reminders for our students. Messages such as ‘I can look out for someone who is alone’ and ‘Be the reason someone feels welcomed, supported, and seen’ helped guide our students in their daily interactions.

In Elementary, the topic of caring was part of our counselors’ guidance lessons during the month as well as during assemblies. One initiative this year was Caught You Caring, where our students and teachers would write whenever they saw someone do a small action of kindness and caring. It was so inspiring to see how many slips were filled out during the month and it was a real showing of how compassionate our community is! Students also got bracelets when they were mentioned by others on their slips and proudly showed them off. 

In Secondary, the overarching theme Caring in Action prompted ongoing conversations about how kindness can drive positive change. This focus encouraged students to reflect on how their everyday choices shape the learning environment (Impact in Learning) and influence the wellbeing of those around them (Impact in Community). It served as a reminder that acts of care, both big and small, are powerful in creating trust, inclusion, and connection.

At AISG, we believe teaching the value of caring from a young age not only strengthens our inclusive and welcoming environment but also equips students with the social–emotional skills they need to thrive in any context. By encouraging kindness, we are building lasting friendships, shaping considerate global citizens, and inspiring the kind of impact that extends far beyond school walls.
