AISG has been accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) since 1987. WASC accreditation is an external quality assurance process that AISG uses to monitor student learning and set goals for school improvement. Throughout the accreditation cycle, schools address their schoolwide action plans, demonstrate that they provide high-quality learning, and practice continual self-improvement.

The accreditation process is an ongoing six-year cycle of quality, and this year is our mid-cycle review, year three.

This week, we had our WASC visit for our mid-cycle review. This means that the WASC Visiting Team came to validate, access, and evaluate the progress of our identified goals related to our action plans.

Prior to the visit, we provided a mid-cycle report to WASC, which included a profile of AISG, the schoolwide goals we set in 2019, the progress of these goals, and how we are addressing the new changes and challenges from the COVID-19 pandemic.

During their three-day virtual visit, the WASC Visiting Team met with the Board, administrators, and groups of parents, teachers, and students. Their discussions with our community were overwhelmingly positive and it was a wonderful opportunity for AISG to get feedback on our progress and validation of all the great work we have done over the past three years.

 

It was a successful visit with the visiting team validating that we are on track with our action plans. They were also impressed with how we are addressing our challenging environment that COVID brings. Little did we know that they would experience this first-hand on their second visit day when we smoothly pivoted to online learning.

In summary, our WASC accreditation is a critical piece of our education offering since it indicates that our school meets a certain standard of quality that is reputable to other accredited schools around the world. Our parents can be assured that their children are receiving the best education possible.
