Festival of Lanterns
Our Elementary students lit up the week with a joyful celebration of the Mid‑Autumn Festival. Even though the parade was rescheduled due to the typhoon, the excitement was as bright as ever.
Students from Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 2 made fun and creative lanterns in their art class and were eager to show them off during the parade! Each grade had their own theme and used paper, plastic, drawings, stickers, lights, and more to make their creations.
During the parade, a magnificent bridge was set up on stage, adding to the festive atmosphere! Our younger students took turns showing off their lanterns as they crossed the stage, illuminating the room.
Meanwhile, our Grade 3 to 5 students added to the atmosphere with the gift of music. They performed traditional favorites such as “但愿人长久” (May We All Be Blessed With Longevity), “弯弯的月亮” (Curvy Moon), and “玉盘” (Jade Plate). Piano and guzheng accompaniment enriched the performance, creating a moving soundscape that perfectly matched the beauty of the lantern procession.
The day was also a great chance for our Elementary to reunite as one and enjoy some fun! Lanterns were hung up with riddles for students to figure out together, a traditional mid-autumn past time. Students also enjoyed fun activities such as Cheraw dancing and decorating lanterns.
The combination of vibrant visuals and melodious music brought an authentic Mid‑Autumn Festival spirit to the AISG community. It was an occasion where creativity, cultural appreciation, and joyful celebration came together, allowing every student to contribute to the shared experience.
At AISG, we believe that celebrating the holidays and traditions of our host country is important for our students to gain a deeper appreciation of the local culture and helps create a globally connected community.
