Spring 2025 ASAG Bi-Annual General Meeting
Last week we held our Spring 2025 ASAG Bi-Annual General Meeting at the Ritz-Carlton. It was another fantastic turnout, with around 300 of our caregivers attending.

As a non-profit institution, our school is governed by the American School Association of Guangzhou (ASAG), comprised of caregivers with students currently enrolled in the school. Our nine-member board, who volunteer their time, lead ASAG, ensuring that AISG provides a world-class education to our students.

Being a non-profit is crucial for our school community. It means that our caregivers are directly involved in governance and decision-making processes, allowing them to have a meaningful impact on our school's direction. Additionally, all surpluses are reinvested back into AISG, enhancing the educational experience for our students through investments in top-tier faculty, professional development, school renovations, and emergency funds.

During each ASAG meeting, we provide bi-annual updates on how our funds are allocated and reinvested, exemplifying our commitment to transparency and accountability—key aspects of our non-profit status. This meeting included:
- An introduction of our Board members, including three newly elected members for the 2025-2026 school year;
- The unveiling of our newest Community Impact Report, showcasing our impact both locally and globally;
- An update on our schoolwide goals, which include our schoolwide service program, marketing plan, social emotional learning, kids-first focus, and school improvement initiatives;
- An impressive list of accomplishments for the year, including our authorization of the MYP Programme and the status of an IB Continuum School;
- The latest on our Class of 2025 university acceptances, including over 150 acceptances in 7 countries with $1.4 million in scholarships;
- And more!

In addition, the most anticipated item on the agenda for each ASAG is our live showcase of student learning. This time, our Grade 2-3 ASA Choir took the stage and sang some of their favorite songs they’ve been practicing for us!

As a premier international school in Guangzhou, our ASAG General Meetings play a vital role in our non-profit advantage. They offer our stakeholders an important platform to stay informed and actively engaged in our decision-making processes.
