Lower Secondary students in the afterschool activity Black Box Productions put on their fall play, Stone Dragon Stew, with great success! This was the first time we've put on a production in our black box theater, and it was incredible to see our students using the space in effective and creative ways.

Students worked on the production for two months and their hard work really paid off! The production had a full audience on both nights, and we are so pleased about the overwhelming support that our community showed to support the performing arts at AISG.

The production featured a multicultural dragon! As an international school with a diverse community, our students and teachers worked together to interpret the script to fit the cultural context of AISG, along with help from the Chinese language department. It was truly a collaborative effort and a great example of community and diversity!

The production also featured students on the crew! The lighting and sound were all controlled by Lower Secondary students involved in production, with crew members being just as important as cast members to put on a successful production. We also had Upper Secondary students help out with the show and share their experience and expertise with our younger students. Such a rewarding experience!

A huge round of applause for Black Box Productions! We are proud of our students for their creative use of the black box theater and for their collaborative efforts in interpreting the script to fit the cultural context of AISG.

The Lower Secondary After School Activities (ASA) program has been created for students to connect with peers outside their grade and class, be risk-takers by trying new experiences, and to simply enjoy building skills in a non-competitive and safe environment.
