AISG Launches IBDP Korean Language A for 2026-27
The American International School of Guangzhou (AISG) is pleased to announce the launch of IBDP Korean A Language & Literature, beginning in the 2026-27 school year. This significant addition to AISG’s academic offerings reflects the school’s continued commitment to supporting mother-tongue development and expanding university pathways for Korean students.
With a large and growing Korean community, AISG is taking a significant step to ensure Korean learners can access high-level academic Korean within the International Baccalaureate (IB) framework, enhancing global preparedness and supporting pathways to higher education in South Korea.
The launch of IBDP Korean A Language & Literature expands AISG’s extensive mother-tongue offerings in other languages made available through its School-Supported Self-Taught Language A Literature (SL).

AISG continues to be one of the few international schools in the region offering structured pathways that intentionally nurture students’ linguistic heritage.

Korean University Placement
The addition of IBDP Korean Language & Literature A strengthens AISG’s established record of successful university placements in South Korea, including AISG students accepted to Yonsei University, Seoul National University, Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), Sungkyunkwan University, Sogang University, and Hanyang University. By combining advanced Korean literacy with the academic rigor of the IB Diploma Programme, students gain a distinct advantage when applying to these Korea’s leading institutions, and other top-tier universities.
This pathway also strengthens graduation outcomes by enabling students to pursue the IB Bilingual Diploma, a credential recognized and valued by universities in Korea and internationally.
