AISG PYP Exhibition
Our Grade 5 students held their annual PYP Exhibition the week before Spring Break, showcasing the culmination of their learning experience in the International Baccalaureate® Primary Years Programme (IB PYP). The theme of the PYP Exhibition, 'Together We Can Make A Difference,' resonated strongly with the audience, as parents and the wider elementary community came together to witness the students' creative projects.

On the evening of March 29th, the PYP Exhibition opened with a heartfelt performance by our Grade 5 students. In the library, everyone came together to sing a moving rendition of "Together We Can Change the World," setting the tone for the rest of the event. The students' passion and dedication were further evident as some of them introduced the PYP Exhibition, speaking eloquently about the hard work and creativity that went into each project.

The theme of 'Together We Can Make a Difference' drove their exploration of the 17 United Nations Global Goals for Sustainable Development. Throughout the Exhibition, students researched their personal interests and led their own inquiries. Their inquiries then led to taking action, in either a local or global context, as a result of their learning. The IBO have defined 5 types of Action; Advocacy, Participation, Social Justice, Social Entrepreneurship and Lifestyle choices. This year, students explored topics such as pollution, gender equality, global warming, deforestation, and animal protection.

To guide their learning for the PYP Exhibition, students found mentors and experts to assist them in their research. They asked teachers, teaching assistants, staff, and administrators to help them select quality sources, set goals, discover facts, and review their progress. Students also had support from our parent community with translanguaging, supporting our Grade 5 students in accessing research materials in their home languages of Chinese, Korean, Japanese, English, and German. With the help of these mentors and experts, our students were sure to be successful in their PYP Exhibition!

The PYP Exhibition was hosted over three days and the school was buzzing with visitors eager to learn more about the students' work. The PYP Exhibition sprawled across the entire Ersha campus! Visitors followed the student-made map to visit each group's displays, which included posters, games, activities, and videos. The community came together to learn about these important topics.

We also invited students from our sister schools to visit the PYP Exhibition and learn from our students. Over 20 Grade 6 students and their teachers from Jiangnan Foreign Language School attended, as well as the Deputy Head of Tieyi Elementary School and five of their teachers. This exchange of collaboration and learning between our schools was a wonderful experience, with everyone eagerly asking questions and taking notes.

The PYP Exhibition was a resounding success, showcasing the students' hard work and creativity in a fun and interactive event. Visitors left feeling inspired and informed, having had the opportunity to witness firsthand the impressive achievements of our Grade 5 students. Through their dedication and commitment to making a positive impact on the world, we are incredibly proud of all that they have accomplished and look forward to seeing the impact they will continue to make in the future.

AISG’s International Baccalaureate® Primary Years Programme (IB PYP) is focused on learning and growing. We develop the whole child through a trans-disciplinary, inquiry approach and place the learner at the center of all we do. We learn through playing, asking questions, being risk takers and trying new things. Guided by the phases of the Inquiry Cycle, students explore, document, reflect and act resulting in an authentic and personalized journey. Click here to learn more about our Elementary School.
