AISG Caring Community

In Elementary School this month, we are celebrating 'AISG Cares.' We are proud of being an international school, representing many nationalities and cultures and we recognize the importance of celebrating our similarities and differences. With this theme, we are encouraging our students to learn the importance of making friends and bridging cultures. We feel it’s important to celebrate this theme during the beginning of the school year as we welcome back returning students new students and set the tone for the year.

The school was decorated with colorful signs displaying this theme. The biggest sign was placed at the entrance of the school that welcomed everyone to AISG with the accompanied phrase, "A caring community where one can build lasting friendships in a positive and inclusive culture.” Smaller signs were placed around the school and play areas with tips for students on how they can care for others, such as “I can look out for someone who is alone."

With this theme, we also started the 'Ramslators' initiative that takes place during recess. Students signed up for the program of being translators between students of different cultures. Bright green vests are worn for other students to notice them and it’s inspiring to see students of such a young age take steps to reach out to others.

Lastly, after the First Days Assembly that introduced the AISG Cares theme for August, temporary tattoos were handed out to everyone! These are not only fun for the students, but also another great visual and a way for our Er Sha community to participate in creating an AISG Caring Zone.

Elementary School Assistant Principal Eric Crabtree says, "AISG is truly a Caring Zone! During the first month of school, it was a joy to see new and returning students in the elementary school displaying care for their classmates by inviting others to play, catching each other caring, and offering smiles and friendly words. We are so proud of our caring Rams! Here's to a great 2021-22 school year!"

As an international community, it’s important to make sure everyone feels welcome. We feel it’s important to celebrate this theme during the beginning of the school year as we welcome back returning students, welcome new students, and set the tone for the year.
