Art Meets Tradition: AISG Hong Bao Exhibition Opens

The opening for this year’s Hong Bao Art Exhibition took place yesterday at Shangrong Gallery and was a great success! The event was attended by many members of our community including caregivers, students, and alumni, along with consuls general, government representatives, and press.

Since its inception in 2019, the Annual Fund Hong Bao Campaign has become a beloved tradition, embodying the spirit of giving and community during the Lunar New Year festivities. This year, we celebrated the Year of the Snake while introducing the theme "Child-Friendly City," emphasizing the importance of nurturing environments for children.

The exhibition showcased the remarkable artistic talents of over 100 creators from the AISG community. Each piece served as a vibrant tribute to the spirit of the Lunar New Year, while promoting our vision of a child-friendly environment in Guangzhou.

A stunning bamboo installation inspired by the beloved story "The Little Prince" beautifully captured our central theme, expressing our deep appreciation for Chinese culture and highlighting our commitment to safeguarding children's well-being.

As the oldest international school in South China, AISG has a longstanding dedication to promoting the rich cultural heritage of China. Beyond the Hong Bao Campaign, we have cultivated various cultural heritage programs, including Cantonese lion dancing and Cantonese puppet theater. These initiatives allow our community members to gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of local customs, fostering a lifelong love for the traditions that make China so unique.

We are proud to have contributed to the vibrant Lunar New Year celebrations in Guangzhou through this art exhibition. The event brought our community together, celebrating creativity, culture, and the spirit of the New Year. A big thank you to our sponsors for the event who sponsored refreshments for our guests.

We invite everyone in the community to visit the public exhibition at Shangrong Art Gallery from January 14-24 (closed on Mondays) and immerse themselves in this cultural celebration, honoring our heritage and envisioning a brighter future for our children.

AISG's Annual Fund celebrates Chinese New Year with the Hong Bao Campaign. Hong Bao means 'red envelope' and it is a tradition to place a monetary gift in the envelope and give it to friends, family, and loved ones as a token of good wishes. As an educational fundraising campaign, the heart of this special event is to showcase our community’s creative talent and to nurture the culture of 'giving'. Click here to learn more about the Hongbao Campaign
