Celebrating Music at the AISG Honor Orchestra Festival

We hosted AISG Honor Orchestra Festival recently, with musicians from CISS, SIS, SASPD, SASPX, and ISB attending the event. Our Lower Secondary String Orchestra students participated in the festival representing AISG.

Students had rehearsal sessions over two days, both as a full orchestra and as sections. The festival also featured guest conductor, Jonathan Mann, a British conductor renowned for his "infectious joy" in music-making. With recent highlights including performances with the Ulster Orchestra and the Chineke! Orchestra, he is passionate about mentoring young musicians offers masterclasses for emerging conductors.

Saturday night’s performance was a celebration of our students' hard work, attended by students, caregivers, and faculty. Performers played the six pieces that they had been honing, which included “Youth Dance”, “Reverie for String Orchestra”, and “Interlude Nightfall”.

A huge round of applause for all our talented Honor Orchestra performers! The festival was a fantastic opportunity for students to pursue their passions, connect with like-minded peers, and learn from a new conductor. We are beyond proud of their achievements over these two incredible days!

AISG's Visual and Performing Arts program is designed to provide our students with experiences to develop curiosity, interest, and enjoyment of their own creativity and an appreciation for others' work. Click here to learn more the Arts at AISG.
