Last week, Elementary students participated in AISG’s second annual Maker Day! From Preschool to Grade 5, all our students flexed their creative muscles and worked in groups to come up with inventive creations that they showcased during an exhibition at the end of the day.
Each grade was given a different theme, and everyone was allocated recycled and sustainable materials such as cardboard, paper, tape, paper cups, clay, and more. Themes included Guangzhou, Space!, All About Me – Menu of Me, Sharing the Planet – Animals & Habitats, and Sustainable Cities of the Future.
Students came up with some incredible creations! There were games, performances, toys, models, and more. Everybody excitedly shared their designs and took turns looking and playing with everyone else's, there was so much excitement in the air!
At AISG, we are passionate about giving students agency in their learning and promoting a maker mindset, which embodies curiosity, resilience, a desire to play, and an interdisciplinary approach to projects. Using their STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) skills, students develop innovative solutions skills that are highly valued in a rapidly changing world.
We use cutting-edge technology and resources and employ Innovation and Technology coaches who work with our teachers to develop ways to incorporate technology in the classrooms to help students further deepen understanding and explore different methods of learning.
