On November 11 through 13, our AISG RAMSMUN members attended SEOMUN XXV. SEOMUN is a Model United Nations conference hosted by Seoul Foreign School, with more than 300 participants attending online this year.
Model United Nations is an educational simulation in which students can learn about diplomacy, international relations, and the United Nations. During conferences, students represent countries, organizations, or people and must work together with other delegates to solve problems that our world is facing. MUN teaches skills like research, debate, writing, public speaking, critical thinking, leadership, and teamwork.
Eleven of our Grade 10 and 11 students attended the conference, having spent the past few months preparing for it. Delegates learned to collaborate and debate on current global issues with students from all over Asia. Over the three days, first-time delegates showed significant improvement in their public speaking skills and as a team, they did not hesitate in making speeches or asking questions.
Our RAMSMUN delegates also showed their flexibility and adaptability to quickly pivot to online preparation. Our student officers made assignments and guided other MUN members online while also undertaking their online learning for their classes. As a result of their commitment and RAM Spirit, they performed very well at the conference and have proven their perseverance during these challenging times. Way to go Rams!
