How AISG Supports the University Journey Long Before Grade 12
When families think about university preparation, they often think about Grade 12. That is understandable. It is the year of applications, essays, interviews, and decisions.
But at AISG, the journey begins much earlier.
University readiness is not built in a single year. It develops over time through reflection, exploration, and a structured process that helps students grow in confidence and make informed decisions about what comes next.
As John Kennett, AISG DP and Graduation Pathways Coordinator shared, “[University preparation] should be starting at end of G8 or into G9 to help build a stronger resume as a student.”
That is why AISG has developed a four-year university preparation program beginning in Grade 9. As one of our AISG University and Future Pathway Counselor’s, Pushpa Dasari explained,

From Grade 9 onward, students begin building the foundation for what comes later: exploring interests, strengthening academic skills, engaging in service and activities, making thoughtful course choices, and preparing over time for the application process.
By Grade 12, students are not beginning the journey. They are building on it.
If you know a family with a child in Grade 8 or 9 who is looking for a structured pathway to university success, please share this with them!
