Iris' Experience at SGD Pharma
Community impact often starts in everyday places–in how people are supported, listened to, and included.
Through AISG’s Social Practice Program, Upper Secondary students took part in a focused placement with SGD Pharma, working alongside the Human Resources (HR) team to understand how workplace culture shapes the community within an organization.
During their placement, students were involved in a real internal engagement project. Working with HR mentors, they designed and conducted a staff survey to gather feedback on employee experiences and ideas for future activities. They also interviewed staff members and created a summary video, which was later used for internal communication within the company.
Through this work, students saw how HR plays a central role in building community at work–fostering connection, supporting communication, and ensuring employee voices are heard. They experienced first-hand how everyday actions, decisions, and interactions shape how people feel within a shared environment.
This kind of learning highlights an important idea: community impact isn’t only about large initiatives. It’s about how spaces are created where people feel valued, supported, and connected, whether in schools, workplaces, or beyond.
AISG’s Social Practice Program has provided 91 Upper Secondary students with professional experiences across 12 partner companies, offering opportunities to engage in meaningful, real-world work that connects learning with life beyond school.
For students, experiences like this build understanding of how their actions influence the communities they are part of — now, and in the future.
If this changed how you think about community at work, share it with someone you work with.
