Matt Smith

Bio:
Matt Smith is a Canadian/British cartoonist and comics educator. He has self-published multiple autobiographical novels about life with his wife and their two cats. His comics have been published in anthologies and collections in the UK, Canada, and the US.
Matt has been a guest at comic conventions in North America, Europe, and the Middle East, exhibiting and presenting at events like the Vancouver Comic Arts Festival, the Thought Bubble Festival and the Middle East Film and Comic Con. His books are sold at comic book stores across the UK.
Matt grew up as a third culture kid, attending the International School of Bangkok and graduating with the full IB Diploma from the International School of Kuala Lumpur.
As a teacher, Matt has taught at schools like the International School of Kuala Lumpur, the American School in Japan, the American International School Kuwait. For the past seven years, Matt has run interactive comics-making workshops online and in-person at over 60 schools across four continents, working with thousands of students.
About the Visit to AISG:
During his visit, Matt talked to and held sessions with students from Kindergarten all the way to Grade 12, as well as our caregivers. He taught our students all about the art of comics and how they are an important form of creative self-expression.
