LeeAnne Lavender, an educational consultant, facilitator, and coach renowned for her work in storytelling, service learning, and community engagement, joined AISG as part of our Annual Fund Speaker Series. With deep expertise in global citizenship and authentic curriculum design, she works with schools around the world to turn mission and vision statements into tangible, impactful practices.

During her visit, LeeAnne visited our classrooms to work with students, from going on nature walks and working on digital storytelling with our Kindergarten students to providing our Grade 9 and 10 Studio Art students on how to connect their work with service learning.

She also spoke at assemblies for Grades 4 to 12, inspiring students to see how sharing stories builds connections, fosters empathy, and ignites purposeful action on issues that matter. Through these sessions, students discovered how narrative can be a powerful tool for global citizenship and deeper engagement in their communities.

For faculty, LeeAnne partnered with our service-learning champions to create curriculum maps that open new interdisciplinary possibilities for their year-long program. She also guided teachers through the design of collaborative units that weave service learning meaningfully into lessons and help students develop the skills and perspectives of active global citizens.

By bringing together storytelling, service learning, and global citizenship, LeeAnne showed how everyone in our community can help nurture curiosity, compassion, and purposeful action. Her visit reflected AISG’s mission and vision in action, leaving a lasting impact in learning, in community, and beyond graduation.
