Taking the Stage: APAC Performing Arts Festivals
This month, AISG student performers shone bright at the APAC Performing Arts Festivals! We hosted APAC Dance this year, while our Orchestra traveled to SASPX and Choir was co-hosted by CISS and SASPD.
As part of the Asia Pacific Activities Conference (APAC), these festivals are a cornerstone of our Visual and Performing Arts Program, giving students opportunities to work alongside top experts from around the world. Across dance studios, rehearsal rooms, and concert halls, they refined their skills, gained fresh perspectives, and collaborated with peers from other leading international schools.
Dance
The Dance Festival saw AISG dancers immersing themselves in a variety of styles taught by professional performers, including Latin modern dance, hip hop, and Chinese cultural dance. It was a chance to step beyond their comfort zones, explore new techniques, and connect with dancers from other schools while forming new friendships. The festival concluded with a dynamic performance of a piece our students had been perfecting over the past few months, showcasing their hard work, technique, and creativity on stage.
Orchestra
Orchestra students rehearsed under the direction of guest conductor Professor Wes Kenney, breaking into sections to collaborate and refine their craft before coming together for the festival’s grand finale. The experience allowed them to perform the pieces they had been rehearsing for months, while sharing their artistry with talented peers from across the APAC community.
Choir
Choir members worked with guest conductor Christine Bass, rehearsing new repertoire in collaborative sessions that built toward a breathtaking mass-chorus performance. They also shared crowd favorites from their own practice sessions, celebrating their passion for singing alongside equally dedicated vocalists from other international schools.
The APAC Performing Arts Festivals provided AISG students with unparalleled artistic growth, meaningful connections, and performances they will never forget, experiences that set our school apart in Guangzhou and highlight the creativity, collaboration, and international spirit at the heart of AISG.
What is APAC?
As part of the Asia Pacific Activities Conference (APAC), AISG engages with 12 leading international schools across the region through athletic competitions and performing arts festivals. APAC provides our students with unparalleled opportunities to travel, compete, collaborate, and represent AISG on an international stage. We are proud to be the only school in Guangzhou offering APAC participation, a distinction that sets AISG apart and gives our athletes and performers access to a truly elite level of experience, personal growth, and global connection.
