The SEA Honor Orchestra Festival Returns

We celebrated the return of the Southeast Asia Honor Orchestra (SEAHO) Festival last week for the first time since the pandemic! Our campus was abuzz with excitement while our talented SEAHO musicians rehearsed, along with students from SASPD and SIS.

The SEAHO Festival took place over two days, with selected musicians from Lower Secondary representing AISG. Together with student performers from SASPD and SIS, students formed a large orchestra and spent two days rehearsing for the final performance on Saturday.

Students had six rehearsal sessions, both as a full orchestra and as sections. The festival also featured a guest conductor, Professor Sun He. Professor He is currently the wind ensemble conductor at The Tianjin Juilliard School’s Pre-College, as well as the executive director of the New Zealand International Brass Festival.

The performance on Saturday night was attended by students, caregivers, and faculty as we celebrated the hard work and dedication of our students. Performers played the six pieces that they had been honing, which included “Arabian Dreams”, “Dragon Dances”, and “Slavonic Dances”.

A huge round of applause for all our talented performers in the SEAHO! The festival was a wonderful way for our students to pursue their passions, meet other students with similar passions, and experience and learn from a new conductor. We are so proud of what they achieved over two days.

AISG's Visual and Performing Arts program is designed to provide our students with experiences to develop curiosity, interest, and enjoyment of their own creativity and an appreciation for others'work. Click here to learn more about the Arts at AISG.
