TOK Exhibition
Last Friday, our Grade 11 students in the Theory of Knowledge (TOK) course held their exhibition. This is an internal assessment that takes place during the end of their first year of the IB Diploma Programme, of which TOK is a core class. It focuses on the central question of ‘how do we know what we know?’ and allows students to reflect on the role of knowledge, challenge biases and assumptions, and open their eyes to different perspectives of our diverse world.

The exhibition is a chance for students to show how the real world around them connects with TOK. Students first choose from one of the 35 prompts provided by the IB, which includes questions like ‘on what grounds do we doubt a claim?’, ‘why do we seek knowledge?’, how can we distinguish between knowledge, belief, and opinion?’, and ‘should some knowledge not be sought on ethical grounds?’.

They then select three objects they encounter in their everyday lives and apply them to their chosen prompt. Objects can include both digital and physical, such as a tweet, a photograph, a painting, or an essay. Through written commentaries, students explain how their chosen objects are linked to the prompt that they chose.

Grade 9 and 10 students, as well as teachers, were invited to attend the event. Grade 11 students stood by their work, answered questions, and participated in discussions with the guests. It was a great celebration of learning!
