APAC Band & Theater Returns!

Last week, our APAC Band and Theater students traveled to Shanghai to attend the APAC Band and Theater Festival. Schools that were in attendance include SASPD, SASPX, and CISS. This is the first time that the Band and Theater Festival has been held since 2019, so it was extra exciting for our students to attend!

Band

During the festival, our 10 student APAC Band ensemble combined with all the other band students to form a symphonic band to rehearse and perform a final piece on the last day. Band directors from each of the four schools shared conducting duties during the rehearsals and concerts. As a special treat, the student musicians had the chance to have a Zoom call with one of the composers whose work they performed! One student was even able to lead their own award-winning composition as part of the program. It was an incredible opportunity for everyone to work together and grow their musical abilities.

Theater

Our APAC Theater troupe is made up of seven talented Upper Secondary students. At the festival, AISG students teamed up with more than 50 other attendees to develop new performances. Three teachers led devising workshops over two days and on the third day, the final 45-minute performance was unveiled! It was a great chance for students to work with different performers and mentors and stretch their creative muscles.

We are so pleased for our students to return to APAC after three years and it was clear how excited they were to be able to attend the festival! The next APAC event is coming up in April, with our athletes already practicing their skills to bring to the court!

AISG's Visual and Performing Arts program is designed to provide our students with experiences to develop curiosity, interest, and enjoyment of their own creativity and an appreciation for others’ work. Read more about the arts.
