Who knows, you just might get inspired and want to serve!

Having discussed the Board's purpose in the first article, we now move on to the framework.

Board Composition

The Board is composed of nine individuals, bringing in expertise and insight from various perspectives. Of the nine members, six are appointed and three are elected.

Eligibility Requirements

The outgoing Board will make appointments to the Board from the Consular Corps of Guangzhou, and from the business and community at large, based on who would serve the school’s best interests.

Eligible elected members will come from the American School Association of Guangzhou (ASAG), parents who have a student currently enrolled at the school.

Those ineligible for election to the Board include employees of the School; spouses and members of household of full-time School employees; spouses and members of household of a Board member; and employees of agencies or suppliers of the School, and their spouses and members of household.

Positions and Committees

Once elected to the Board, there are various ways to contribute. There are leadership positions within the Board and numerous committees to be a part of. While there are five standing committees, the Board may create additional committees or task forces, as needed.

Did you know that non-board members can serve on certain committees and task forces? It’s another great way to get involved and contribute! While certain requirements may apply, we are always looking for those who can provide valuable insights and expertise.
